2012 News

2012 proved a busy year for us at ZAC; playing host to a plethora of Writers, Producers and Artists…everyone from veteran Platinum songwriters to talented local independent artists.

Sean Garrett was a frequent visitor enjoying the largest of our three rooms; Stonehenge. The beginning of the year found him working with: Def Jam’s newly signed group, Reign, writing records for Justin Bieber and making major contributions to what would be Brandy’s first #1 album [US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums - Billboard] since Full Moon in 2002.

The second half of 2012 “The Pen” was constructing future hits for newcomers B.Smyth [Universal Republic] and Jacob Latimore [Jive] while at the same time putting together records for industry vets the likes of Rihanna.

ZAC played host to Wale [Warner Bros] for the first time in the fall of 2011 tracking vocals for his mixtape “11.1.11”. He became a mainstay in  Stonehenge in 2012; tracking with Engineer Kevin Spencer and Asst. Cody Sciara for his album “Ambition”.ambition

“Ambition” would debut at #2 on Billboard’s Top 200 selling 164,000 copies in its first week. The album would go on to sell 500,000 in August 2012. In addition to tracking the majority of the album, ZAC Engineer Kevin Spencer, mixed “No Days Off”, “Double M Genius”“Don’t Hold Your Applause”, “Bait” and title track “Ambition”. Wale also tracked a portion of his recently released mixtape “Folarin” here in  Stonehenge.


Hitz Committee artist, Key Swag, was in Neve with Engineer Kevin SpencerDJ Green Lantern was in the B Room with Engineer Shaan SinghVH1’s Love and Hip Hop came in to shoot footage for their 3rd season. Engineer Sam Thomas was in Stonehenge tracking vocals with Producers Broadway & JA and Kat Graham [A&M]. Producer Willy Will and Writer/Actress/Entreprenuer Kandi Burress worked with Engineer Shaan Singh inNeveCurrency [Warner Bros] (pictured below with ZAC Night Mgr. Bilz) was in Neve tracking vocals with Engineer Cody Sciara.photo 3Engineer Leslie Brathwaite was in Neve working on mixes for Akon [Konvict]Don Omar [Universal Latin] and Key Swag [Hitz Committee]. Producer Cardiak was in Neve with Engineer Kevin SpencerKirko Bangz [Warner Bros] was in Stonehenge with Engineer Kevin Spencer assisted by Cody Sciara. Superstar songwriter Rico Love was in Stonehenge with Engineer Kevin Spencer. Omarion [Warner Bros] also stopped though Stonehenge tracking vocals with Engineer Kevin Spencer. Singer/Songwriter Aviva Vuvuzela was in with her band Aviva and the Flying Penguins. Engineer Shaan Singh recorded and mixed her debut full length CD “Painted Truth” here at ZAC.

Drummer/Producer Little John Roberts was in Neve with Engineer Raheem Amlami assisted by Chief Engineer Tony Terrebonne. Also playing was Chris Dave on drums, “T-Lee”Clarence Hill the Third on keys, Pino Palladino on bass and Melvin Jones on trumpet.

Currency [Warner Bros] was back in Neve tracking vocals with Engineer Cody SciaraMindless Behavior [Interscope] was in Neve assisted by Engineer Shaan Singh.

Kirko Bangz [Warner Bros] was back in Stonehenge with Engineer Kevin Spencer assisted by Cody Sciara. Longtime Allman Bros Bass Player OTeil Burbridge was in with Owner/Engineer Jim Z and Chief Engineer TBonne tracking drums, keys, bass and vocals for his upcoming album. Produced by David Ryan Harris session players included Lil John RobertsSean O’RourkeMark RiversAlfreda Jerald and Kofee Burbridge.



Stonehenge played host to writer Sam Dew; who was in with Engineer Kevin Spencer and Asst. Shaan Singh working on records for Beyonce. After coming in earlier in the year with Engineer/Producer Quentin Dennard, Dollhouse returned, newly signed to Universal Republic, to work with Sean Garrett “The Pen”; assisted by Shaan Singh.



Into 2010

ZAC A room has been making the crowds happy – two great song writing teams have been thru recently:The Runners hip hop production duo from Orlando, Andrew “Dru Brett” Harr and Jermaine “Mayne Zayne” Jackson, best known for producing the hit singles “Go Hard” and “Hustlin’”plus produced songs for artists like Chris Brown, Fat Joe, Juelz Santana, Jim Jones, Lil Wayne,Justin Bieber, Fabolous and Usher. They worked Neve Genesys in ZAC A with engineer, Jeff Villanueva mixing a Rihanna tune as well as tracking new music for the movie Burlesque, which will feature Cher and Christine Aguilerra. More ZAC A fans, Elvis Williams, aka BlacElvis, and Harold Lilly are the songwriting duo behind Spin Music Group. Recently camped out with ZAC A’s Neve Genesys control room working songs for debut artist Damien. Engineer, Mack Woodward handles the board and digital software duties… Doramus handles some additional vocal production with Harold and Elvis makin’ the jams…..

Meanwhile, in Stonehenge, long time engineer for R.E.M, John Keene has been using the magic analog Studer A820 to transfer all the old Master tapes for archiving in the digital realm — so great to hear the old hits come back across the speakers strait off 24 tracks — aaahhhhh, the old days… stuff sounds soooo good

Meanwhile, Elvis Williams, aka BlacElvis, has locked out ZAC A to brew up his next batch of hits for EMI Publishing. Engineer, Mack Woodward at the controls.


Grammy winning drummer from the Derek Trucks Band, Yonrico Scott is assembling tracks for his own upcoming release. Using Stonehenge for tracking various assemblies of musical cohorts – set One included the Rev. Oliver Wells, Joseph Patrick Moore, and Bruno while a second set included DtB bandmates, Todd Smallie on bass, Kofi Burbridge on the keys and young ATL guitar slinger, Nick Johnson on guitar.

ZAC Front Room – Producer, Simon Illa has been busy with a slew of work for his Unbreakable Music Group – Singer/Songwriters Margie Chadburn, Nate Currin – Rock/Funk guitarist George Tisdale, Kyle Lucas of Vonnegutt, Singer/Writer Ben Grant of the band The Status and R&B Artist Kevi Redding– all fresh cuts for upcoming releases…

ZAC celebrates 10th Anniversary of Music Business Survival!

Thanks go out to all our ATL supporters, artists and production crews as well as the myriad of labels who have graced us with their artists. All who attended were treated to great culinary delights from Rayes Grill Treats, Epicurean Endevors, Jamesons and JRodney Dining and some special musical performances by guitarist, Elliot Holden, Songstress, Margie Chadburn, Nate Currin Band, Sinsemelia and the ZAC spawned, I.O.Z, who released their debut CD that night!

who knows what the next ten years will bring,
but the first ten sure were exciting!!

German born singer/songwriter Azin (pronounced Ahh Zeen) has several House/DJ backed tracks released in Munich and has recently moved stateside, seeking out the production skills of ZAC resident, Simon Illa to break into the US commercial music scene.

Lars Nagel band continues production on upcoming release incorporating more of the ZAC family of talents – Tony ‘Tbonne’ twisting the knobs, Spike’s tasty persussions and ZAC guitar slinger, Daniel Groover.
